Here is the Silversun Pickups Jimmy Kimmel Live video from Jan. 26. 2010 of their performance of Panic Switch from Swoon, their sophomore studio album.

They performed on the eighth anniversary of the program which also saw Harrison Ford and Kristen Bell as guests. The band, comprised of Brian Aubert, Nikki Monninger, Christopher Guanlao, and Joe Lester, have been nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best New Artist and were recently profiled in a feature article in the L.A. Times.

L.A.’s most successful indie band goes from playing in front of Spaceland’s shimmery curtain to the Staples Center.

The Silversun Pickups are the local indie embodiment of the famous quote from the Irish writer Samuel Beckett: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”  Bands should be so lucky to experience such crushing defeats: The heroes of the Silver Lake scene, the fiery but focused Silversun Pickups are competing against acts including MGMT, the Ting Tings, the Zac Brown Band and R&B mistress Keri Hilson for the best new artist prize at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony, set to take place next Sunday in L.A.  It’s recognition that’s been a long time coming. Since the early aughts, local prognosticators have been attempting to divine, largely unsuccessfully, which of the bands toiling in the Silver Lake/Echo Park circuit were most likely to achieve mainstream success.

In Friday’s Daily Noise, brought to you by Fuse and Billboard.com, Pearl Jam is poised to score their first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in 13 years when the charts post next Thursday. “Backspacer,” which the band released independently, is on track to sell just under 200,000 copies in its first week.

Meanwhile, UK artists including Blur and Radiohead are pushing for three-strikes laws against illegal downloading, and the Silversun Pickups recently produced a shotgun video on a two-day break for their song “Substitution”. The band is currently on tour with Manchester Orchestra and Cage the Elephant.
