Californian rockers RATT were interviewed on the April 21, 2010 edition of the nationally syndicated show “Rockline” with host Bob Coburn. The program is now available for streaming at Rockline.

RATT ’s brand new album “Infestation”, was released on Tuesday, April 20 via Loud & Proud. The CD was produced by Elvis Baskette (CHEVELLE, ALTER BRIDGE) at his Virginia studio, marking the first time the band has recorded outside of Los Angeles. The album is full of attitude and of reflection, cycling through a range of emotions. There are party anthems that RATT are known for alongside more contemplative, thoughtful tunes.

rattHere is “Best of Me” the first single from the forthcoming INFESTATION album due on April 20th.

INFESTATION was produced by Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Incubus, Limp Bizkit) and marks the very first time in their storied career that RATT have recorded outside of Los Angeles! The band lived together at Elvis’ Virginia studio while recording the album. In addition to core, longtime members Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini and Bobby Blotzer, the album also features new guitarist Carlos Cavazo, formerly of Quiet Riot, and Robbie Crane, who has been with the band for twelve years, will continue on bass.

Video footage of guitarist Warren DeMartini of Californian rockers RATT laying down a solo on the band’s new song “Lost Weekend” at a studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia in June 2009 can be viewed below.

RATT’s first studio CD in 10 years was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, whose credits include PUDDLE OF MUDD, CHEVELLE, SALIVA, LIMP BIZKIT, ALTER BRIDGE and THREE DAYS GRACE, to name a few. Tentatively due in January 2010 via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records, the effort — which has been described by singer Stephen Pearcy as a cross between 1984’s “Out Of The Cellar” and 1985’s “Invasion Of Your Privacy” — marked the first time the band had stepped outside of Los Angeles to track a new CD in 20-plus years.

Pearcy-1

Pearcy-2

It seems like yesterday that I was wide-eyed high school student going to the Providence Civic Center to see a sold-out RATT show with 15, 000 other rodents. If you told me then that RATTs’ lead singer STEPHEN PEARCY would be playing a bar walking distance from my home 23  years later, I would have bet you my Circus magazine subscription that it would never happen.

Well, it did happen, and there I was Thursday night  with a mostly 35+year old  crowd only this time instead of worrying about passing my math test the next day I was worrying  if I would look hung-over for my morning meeting.

Classic metal shows are always an excellent bang for the buck because the band is drawing on years of a critic- and fan-vetted catalog, so you’re guaranteed to know at least 90 percent of the songs played.

Be it the adrenaline rush of “Body Talk,” the butane burning of “Back For More” or the Sunset Stripper strut of “Lovin’  You’s a Dirty Job,” PEARCY delivered with his signature gruff voice unabashed energy and a platinum parade of hits. His band, the RAT BASTARDS include members of  W.A.S.P. and PAPA ROACH.

After a resilient performance and a night of solid reminders of what made attending concerts as a kid so electrifying and stimulating, I walked away wishing it could be 1986 for a couple more hours.
