The opening date of Paramore’s Spring tour was proof positive of why this band continue to win over new admirers, night after night: The music was poppy, punk-y (of the fresh-scrubbed suburban variety), and loaded with more energy than a supercollider. It’s the sort of rock’n'roll that hits teenagers the hardest, but sneaks up on the older generations when they’re least expecting it.
Monday night at Knoxville, TN’s Civic Coliseum, Paramore ripped through a 17-song set heavy on tracks from their latest release, Brand New Eyes, which SPIN picked as one of the best albums of 2009. Playing to over 6,000 rabid fans, the quintet rocked with vigor, precision, and, above all, a youthful exuberance.

Californian rockers RATT were interviewed on the April 21, 2010 edition of the nationally syndicated show “Rockline” with host Bob Coburn. The program is now available for streaming at Rockline.
RATT ’s brand new album “Infestation”, was released on Tuesday, April 20 via Loud & Proud. The CD was produced by Elvis Baskette (CHEVELLE, ALTER BRIDGE) at his Virginia studio, marking the first time the band has recorded outside of Los Angeles. The album is full of attitude and of reflection, cycling through a range of emotions. There are party anthems that RATT are known for alongside more contemplative, thoughtful tunes.

In six days time, we should know a little more about BlackDiamondSkye.com, a site launched this week that several websites are speculating will go down this fall, and if the rumor is true, the only question remaining is: Who’ll be the headliner? Alice in Chains, Deftones and Mastodon … on the same bill? That’s this week’s hot rumor.
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, chances are this rumor will end up being fact in six days, when the countdown on BlackDiamondSkye reaches zero. Reasons why it could be true? The site name alone is a dead giveaway. Last year, Alice In Chains released their comeback LP ‘Black Gives Way To Blue.’ The Deftones released ‘Diamond Eyes’ in May, and Mastodon’s last effort, ‘Crack the Skye,’ dropped in 2009. There’s also a YouTube video, which seems to be promoting the site itself. The clip is a mash-up of imagery and audio, but at times, you can distinctly hear the music of all three bands.

“Cryin’ Like A Bitch”, the new video from GODSMACK, can be viewed below. The Mixed Martial Arts-driven clip features UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) champions Chuck Liddell, Rashad Evans, Brock Lesner, BJ Penn, and Matt Hughes brutally knocking out the competition and showcasing their raw strength while GODSMACK
performs the aggressive rock anthem in a warehouse. GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna admitted in a recent webisode for the band’s upcoming fifth studio album, “The Oracle”, that “Cryin’ Like A Bitch” was inspired by events of last summer’s Crüe Fest 2 tour, on which GODSMACK appeared alongside headliners MÖTLEY CRÜE. Sully told Artisan News Service at the time, “There’s definitely been some rock-star garbage on this tour that we just have never seen in our career . . . this was the first time that I felt like, ‘You know what?! If there’s gonna be some people that are gonna treat other people a certain way, then I’m gonna go out there every night and . . . make sure that we make you look old and fat, and go home with a nice big fat paycheck.”

Newly reunited Soundgarden will play its first show since 1997 on Friday (April 16) at the Showbox at the Market in its Seattle hometown, Billboard.com has learned. It is unknown if the event is private or will be open to the public.
Vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron have been rehearsing in Seattle in recent weeks as a precursor to their first confirmed reunion performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August.
No other dates have been announced for Soundgarden, who split up after headlining Lollapalooza in 1996 but confirmed a reunion on January 1. The group is expected to plan activity around Cameron’s previously confirmed schedule with Pearl Jam, which includes short North American and European tours through July.
