Deftones have announced details of their long-awaited sixth studio album – the first they will have recorded without bassist Chi Cheng.

The record, entitled ‘Diamond Eyes’, will be available from May 18. It will be preceded by a free download song, ‘Rocket Skates’, available from the band’s official website, Deftones.com, from tomorrow (February 23).

‘Diamond Eyes’ will be the first Deftones release to feature stand-in bass player Sergio Vega in place of Cheng, who was severely injured in a car crash in 2008 and subsequently fell into a coma.
