NIRVANA’s legendary August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the U.K.’s Reading festival will make its official debut on CD and DVD on November 3, followed by a vinyl edition on November 17. Titled “Nirvana Live At Reading”, the set will come as both a separate CD and DVD, as well as a deluxe CD/DVD package. The show has been circulated on bootlegs for years, but the DVD will feature a pristine copy of the original film, while the audio portion will be taken from the original recordings.
NIRVANA’s Reading show featured early performances of several songs that would not make their recorded debut until 1993’s “In Utero” album: “All Apologies”, “Dumb” and “Tourette’s”. The show also included rare cover tunes and obscure songs from the band’s pre-”Nevermind” days, as well as nearly every song from that 1991 breakthrough release.

The Pulse of Radio reports: Rob Zombie kicks off his first North American tour in two years on Thursday (October 29) in Phoenix, Arizona, and he said on a conference call with reporters earlier this week that fans can expect surprises in both the set list and stage production. “We have a lot of new things this time, you know,” he said. “We didn’t want to go out and just do the same old show, so we’ve dug deep and we’ve kind of tried to mix it up. You know, there’s always the obvious songs that you have to play for people that they want to hear, but we’re actually going back and we’re grabbing some songs that I’ve actually never played live ever. And as far as the stage show, there’s been some pretty incredible advancements in digital technology, so we have a pretty high-tech show going on. It’s pretty awesome.”

Altitude TV spoke with KORN guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer about the songwriting and recording process for the band’s next album. Watch the four-minute clip below.
On how the songwriting/recording process is coming along:
“Right now we are in the studio making another record. We are doing it with Ross Robinson; he’s producing it. It’s so much fun to be recording with him again, ’cause he has such a passion for what we did on the first two albums. That, for him and us, that kick-started our careers; for him as well. And he just keeps putting out platinum albums.
“We didn’t drift apart, but we wanted to try other producers, we wanted to kind of experiment, but it just feels like we’ve been on a long journey and we’ve come home again.”

An hour into David Gray’s show Friday night at Boston’s Citi Wang Theatre, there was a nice surprise: Despite the heavy flow of chilled Chardonnay, there hadn’t been a single audience call-out for “Babylon,” Gray’s ubiquitous hit from 2000 that catapulted the British singer/songwriter to international acclaim.
And when Gray finally unfurled that anthem mid-set, giving it a breezy makeover flush with acoustic guitars and light percussion, the audience frothed into a spirited but seated sing-along.
The show — which at times was gloriously unhinged but far too often as buttoned-up as the band’s matching dark suits — kicked off Gray’s new tour for Draw the Line, his first studio album in four years.
The tour finds Gray at a commercial crossroads, especially in this country, where his fame was essentially fleeting after he broke through with 1999’s White Ladder. With nearly a decade of dust on it, that seminal record clearly paved the road for the rise of other heart-on-sleeve UK acts like Coldplay, Damien Rice, and Keane.

Bassist John Paul Jones has told BBC News that there were plans in 2008 for the original LED ZEPPELIN members to hit the road without frontman Robert Plant — under a different name — which were later abandoned.
Now, John Paul Jones who is currently playing with THEM CROOKED VULTURES, also featuring FOO FIGHTERS’ Dave Grohl and Josh Homme from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE — said things have worked out for the best. “Jimmy [Page] and I rehearsed a bit with Jason Bonham and we couldn’t really agree on singers and that fell by the wayside,” he said. “Then this came along and to be honest, I’m really happy.”
THEM CROOKED VULTURES made their first official single, called “New Fang”, available to radio stations on Monday (October 26). The track is also streaming at the trio’s web site and is taken from the band’s self-titled debut album, which is due for release on November 17. Meanwhile, following their first North American tour of mostly East Coast cities earlier this month, the group will next head west for four gigs in November.
